Epoxy putty, also known as cold weld, is a two-component plasticine-like compound: knead it by hand until the colour is uniform, and it sets in 45 minutes. It seals leaks and cracks, rebuilds missing fragments and bonds parts made of metal, plastic, wood, stone and ceramics. The group also includes two-component epoxy glues and a UV-curing glue for glass.
How to choose
- Steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass → Metal epoxy putty — after 2.5 hours the repair can be sanded and drilled.
- Plastic, wood, concrete, stone and glass → Multipurpose epoxy putty — for items made of different materials.
- Sanitary ware, ceramics and tiles → Epoxy putty for ceramics and faience — a cold weld that bonds even under water.
- Very strong bonds of metal, plastic, wood and glass → Heavy duty epoxy putty — a two-component epoxy adhesive mixed 1:1 by volume.
- A clear, elastic joint on plastic, rubber, leather and PVC → Super glue colorless — withstands water, frost and temperatures from −60 °C to +150 °C.
- Glass, crystal and rear-view mirrors → Super glue for glass — hardens in sunlight or under a UV lamp and sets in 20 seconds.
Before a repair, clean the surface of dirt and rust, sand it and degrease it. Wear protective gloves and do not apply the compounds to surfaces that come into contact with food. If the outer layer of the putty stick has hardened in storage, warm it to +60 °C for about 10 minutes and it becomes pliable again.
